Nick Caleb is an alumni of and professor at Concordia University. One summer he went to Delhi, India where he worked as a policy analyst at Vandana Shiva's Research Foundation for Science, Technology, and Ecology. This experience forced him to grapple with the effects of globalization on impoverished peoples around the globe. He served as a de facto ambassador for the American approach to law, life, and culture in the classroom Law & Technology at Tilburg University in the Netherlands. He left Europe with the strong belief that living in a society with a strong social safety net is not some abstract idea, but an achievable reality if people desire it enough. Watch
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxMtHood, where x=independently organized TED event.
At our TEDxMtHood event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. Visit TED.com to learn more.
