Join Us On January 25, 2016

Salons are small, in-person gatherings, centered around a local speaker or speakers and feature several TED.com videos around a relevant and engaging topic.

Our Salon theme for January 25th is Sustainability and features local advocates Terra Heilman and Marcus Young. At the Salon, experts and novices will come together to share and discover additional tips for “green” living.

We hope you’re enjoying this gorgeous Pacific Northwest autumn – and we are excited to bring you our latest news: we’re starting a SALON!

No, no… not one of those spots you go to get your hair done while gossiping with the other clientele. This is a TEDx Salon – a casual meeting of the minds, where you go for the evening to watch a few TED Talks, hear a speaker or two, and participate in informal discussions about the events topic and talks.

Different in several ways from both our big annual TEDxMtHood event and our smaller Adventures, the Salons will be:

  • Small: 100 attendees maximum
  • Focused: often exploring just one singular subject area
  • 3 or more per year (in addition to our big annual event which will be happening in June)

Community is at the heart of TEDxMtHood and each of our events. Our new salon series is designed specifically to nurture and grow our community. By centering around the element of active discussion, we hope to see the Salons instigate critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and an endless exchange of ideas. We can’t wait to share them with you!

SAVE THE DATES!

So, in addition to our main annual event, we would like to invite you to join us for Salons starting in the new year. Put these in your calendar and watch for more information soon about the themes and speakers we will be featuring at each one.

  • Salon #1 – Monday, January 25, 2016
  • Salon #2 – Tuesday, March 15, 2016
